The A4 Director Diary is intended for small services, with around 12 educators, to support gathering evidence to support compliance and A&R. The diary is intended to be sold as part of a set with the Ed Leader diary however can be purchased individually.

Each diary creates both compliance and best practice evidence, to support your interactions with the regulatory authority, and has been designed based on common feedback and evidence requests. The diaries are split into months so that evidence can be easy to find. There is also an instructions page explaining how to use each diary, but you can make them your own with no obligation to use every section every month. They also all align with information provided in RARE webinars such as the appraisal format is supported by the webinar Using appraisals to build educator’s confidence.

The Director Diary includes: Annual leave calendar, Emergency drill calendar, Document review schedule, Staff qualifications renewal dates, Monthly overview, Meeting minutes, Discussions with educators, Appraisals, Critical reflections, Self-assessment tool summary (QA2, S3.1, QA4, QA6, QA7), and 12 different compliance audits (1 each month). (The EL Diary contains the rest of the standards for SAT gathering).

A child safety audit has been added in 2026 diary.

The A4 Approved Provider Diary is intended for hands on APs who want to keep track of their discussions and work inside and outside the service.

Each diary creates both compliance and best practice evidence, to support your interactions with the regulatory authority, and has been designed based on common feedback and evidence requests. The diaries are split into months so that evidence can be easy to find. There is also an instructions page explaining how to use each diary, but you can make them your own with no obligation to use every section every month.

The Approved Provider Diary includes: Meeting minutes for formal meetings with staff and stakeholders, spaces to capture informal discussions with stakeholders, spaces to capture anything that could go into the Self-assessment tool, and notes. Every AP works in their own way so this is more to capture discussions and plans to support the service from a higher level.
